Meta Unveils Waddle World: A Tamagotchi-Like AI Pet App That Doubles as a Daily Journal

Meta has introduced Waddle World, a new mobile app that blends the nostalgic appeal of virtual pets with the functionality of a daily journal. Described by the company as a 'daily journal disguised as a pet,' Waddle World lets users care for an AI-driven creature while recording their thoughts and experiences. The app is part of Meta's broader push into AI-powered consumer experiences, aiming to make self-reflection more engaging through gamification. By combining emotional attachment to a virtual pet with journaling prompts, Meta hopes to encourage consistent daily use. Waddle World is currently in early testing, with no official release date announced. The move signals Meta's interest in wellness tech and its strategy to integrate AI into everyday routines. As digital journaling apps grow in popularity, Waddle World could carve out a niche by appealing to users who find traditional journaling tedious. It remains to be seen whether the app will resonate beyond novelty, but Meta's experiment may pave the way for more playful AI companions in the productivity space.
