Oklahoma Offense Stalls Again: South Carolina Upset Highlights Key Decisions for Brent Venables

Oklahoma’s offensive struggles continued Saturday as the Sooners fell to South Carolina in a game they were favored to win at home. The loss marked another underwhelming performance for quarterback John Mateer and offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle, whose unit was largely stuck in neutral until a late fourth-quarter surge. The inability to sustain drives and generate consistent production is raising serious questions about the direction of the offense under head coach Brent Venables. With the season reaching a critical juncture, Venables faces key decisions on how to jumpstart a unit that has failed to meet expectations. The late-game flurry offered a glimpse of potential, but it was too little, too late. Oklahoma must find answers quickly to salvage its season and restore confidence in the offensive scheme.
