MLS 2027 Sprint Season Schedule: Miami Kickoff, Memorial Day MLS Cup, May 8 Decision Day

Major League Soccer has unveiled the schedule for its 2027 "sprint season," a one-off compressed campaign that will begin on February 19 in Miami and culminate with MLS Cup on Memorial Day weekend at the end of May. Decision Day, the final day of the regular season, is set for May 8. This stopgap half-season is part of MLS's planned calendar inversion, which will see the league shift to a fall-to-spring format starting with the 2027-28 season, aligning it with most top soccer leagues worldwide. The initial details of the calendar change were first announced in March, and the newly released schedule provides clarity for clubs, players, and fans as they prepare for the abbreviated season. With cold-weather locales in mind, the league has made accommodations to ensure playability during the early spring months. The sprint season will be a unique test of squad depth and fan engagement, setting the stage for a historic transition in North American soccer.
