Hemp and Shaw strike as Manchester City edge London City Lionesses in WSL thriller

Manchester City secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over London City Lionesses at Hayes Lane, with goals from Khadija Shaw and Lauren Hemp proving decisive. The Lionesses, in only their second WSL season, pushed the champions all the way, with Jana Fernández briefly restoring parity before Hemp's winner. The result moves City six points clear of their hosts, denting any title ambitions the London side may have harbored. Despite the loss, London City's spirited display underlined their rapid rise and growing status as credible contenders in the top flight. With the title race heating up, City's experience and firepower ultimately proved the difference, but the Lionesses served notice that they are a force to be reckoned with.
