Fleetwood Town vs Arsenal: League Two strugglers prepare wet Highbury welcome for Carabao Cup clash

Fleetwood Town host Premier League champions Arsenal at Highbury Stadium on Tuesday in a Carabao Cup fourth-round tie, with the League Two side hoping to pull off a major upset. The Fylde coast club are no strangers to headlines, having seen former player Jamie Vardy become a star, signed a partnership with a team in Uzbekistan, and owner Andrew Pilley resign in 2023 after being convicted of fraud and jailed for 13 years. This week, however, football takes centre stage as Mikel Arteta's side visit a ground with a fraction of the Emirates Stadium's capacity. Fleetwood already knocked out Championship side Sheffield United in the previous round, with the Blades unable to cope with the conditions or their opponents. The Cod Army anticipate a sterner test from Arsenal's aristocrats, but the wet and windy weather could level the playing field. A cup shock would be a welcome boost for a club that has faced turmoil off the pitch, and it would add another memorable chapter to Fleetwood's story.
