Bay City Roller Can Prove Top of the Pops in Fascinating Breeders’ Cup Turf

Bay City Roller, trained by George Scott and ridden by Oisin Murphy, is a leading European contender for Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Turf at Del Mar. The colt enters off a strong second-place finish behind Daryz in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp, form that makes him the top-rated runner in the 14-horse field on Timeform’s ratings. British bookmakers have him at around 9-1, and while stall 13 is a concern, there is little early pace inside him, and Murphy previously secured a good position from a similar draw in the Arc. A victory would give Scott his first Breeders’ Cup winner at his second attempt. With 10 of the 14 runners trained in Europe, the Turf is the highlight of the card for European fans, and Bay City Roller’s proven ability on firm ground could see him strike at Del Mar.
