Are the 7-0 Minnesota Vikings Legit Super Bowl Contenders or a Mirage?

The Minnesota Vikings are the NFL's only undefeated team at 7-0 entering Week 8 of the 2026 season, but questions remain about whether their hot start is sustainable. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy has been efficient, not spectacular, while the defense ranks in the top five in takeaways. However, skeptics point to a soft schedule: five of their seven wins came against teams currently under .500. The Vikings' next three games against the Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and Green Bay Packers will reveal if they are true Super Bowl contenders or beneficiaries of an easy early slate. Head coach Kevin O'Connell has kept the team focused, but history shows that fast starts don't always translate to playoff success. With the NFC North race tightening, Minnesota must prove it can beat elite competition. The answer to whether the Vikings are the NFL's best team will come soon.
