Original Narnia Actor Learns of Greta Gerwig's Reboot: 'I Had No Idea'

A star of the earlier Chronicles of Narnia films was caught off guard by news of Greta Gerwig's upcoming Netflix adaptation, admitting they were completely unaware of the project and their character's recasting. The actor, who played a pivotal role in the beloved franchise, revealed the surprise during an exclusive interview, underscoring how quietly the new films have been developed. Gerwig, known for Barbie and Little Women, is set to write and direct at least two Narnia movies for Netflix, which acquired the rights in 2018. The original films, produced by Disney and later Fox, grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide and launched the careers of its young cast. The reboot marks the first major screen adaptation since 2010's The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. With production expected to begin soon, casting announcements have remained tightly under wraps, leaving even franchise veterans in the dark. The news highlights the generational shift as Netflix reimagines C.S. Lewis's classic series for a new audience. For fans, it's a reminder that even those closest to Narnia can be surprised by its next chapter.
