Dune 3 Trailer: Is Zendaya’s Chani Really Betraying Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides?

The final trailer for Dune: Part Three has ignited fan speculation with a shocking moment that suggests Zendaya’s Chani may betray Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides, potentially aligning with a conspiracy to bring down the Emperor. However, seasoned Dune readers and sharp-eyed viewers know that director Denis Villeneuve has a history of misleading trailer edits—especially after Part Two’s marketing played up a romance that the film itself complicated. The new footage hints at political maneuvering, possible Bene Gesserit involvement, and a fracture in Paul and Chani’s alliance, but the context may be deliberately obscured. If Chani’s apparent turn is a feint or a forced choice, it would echo the books’ tension between love and destiny. With the fate of Arrakis and the Imperium at stake, the trailer raises the stakes while leaving the truth tantalizingly unclear. The real question isn’t whether Chani betrays Paul—it’s whether the trailer is betraying us.
