Donnie Wahlberg Reveals Legacy Blue Bloods Character's Potential Spinoff Return Comes With a Catch

Donnie Wahlberg, star of the upcoming CBS spinoff Boston Blue, has addressed whether any original Blue Bloods characters might appear in the new series. While Wahlberg expressed openness to seeing familiar faces, he explained that a return for one legacy character in particular would come with a significant condition tied to the story's logic and the actor's availability. The actor emphasized that any crossover would need to make sense within Boston Blue's new setting and narrative, rather than being a forced cameo. This insight matters because Blue Bloods built a loyal fanbase over 14 seasons, and its conclusion left viewers eager for connections to the Reagan family universe. Wahlberg's comments suggest that while the spinoff will stand on its own, the door isn't closed to nostalgic returns—if the creative and scheduling pieces align. For now, fans will have to wait and see which familiar faces might make the trip to Boston.
