Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres Mark 30 Years with ‘Just Come In’ Photo Exhibition at RIBA North Liverpool

Maggie’s centres, which provide free practical, emotional and social support for people affected by cancer, are celebrating three decades of care with a new photography exhibition titled ‘Just Come In’. The show, running at RIBA North in Liverpool until 29 November, features the work of photographer Tabitha Jussa, whose images capture everyday moments of comfort, conversation and pause inside the centres. Inspired by the welcoming phrase ‘just come in’—the guiding ethos of every Maggie’s—the exhibition highlights the calm, human spaces designed by leading architects to feel more like a home than a hospital. Since the first centre opened in Edinburgh in 1996, Maggie’s has grown into a network of centres across the UK and abroad, offering support to anyone affected by cancer, including family and friends. The photographs document how these spaces provide respite, community and practical help, from a quiet cup of tea to a one-to-one conversation with a cancer support specialist. This anniversary comes as demand for holistic cancer care continues to rise, making Maggie’s model of free, non-clinical support more relevant than ever. The exhibition offers a rare visual insight into the quiet power of design and compassion in the cancer journey.
