Xbox Vows to Overhaul Review Code System After Missing Modern Warfare 4 Metacritic Score

Xbox has acknowledged a flaw in its game review code distribution process, which left the newly released Modern Warfare 4 with almost no critic reviews on Metacritic for the Xbox platform. The issue came to light shortly after the game's launch, when players and industry watchers noticed a stark absence of professional assessments compared to other platforms. Xbox stated it must fix the system to ensure critics receive timely access to games, a move that affects how titles are evaluated and discovered. This matters because Metacritic scores influence purchasing decisions and developer bonuses. Without reviews, Xbox gamers lack trusted guidance, and the platform risks appearing less supported by the gaming press. The company did not specify a timeline but emphasized the need for immediate correction. The fix could restore parity and trust among publishers and players alike, ensuring future launches are properly reviewed from day one.
