Phantom Blade Zero Replaces Lead Voice Actor with Sonic's Roger Craig Smith at Launch

Phantom Blade Zero, the new action game from S-Game, has quietly swapped its protagonist's voice actor just as the game launched. Roger Craig Smith, best known as the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog and Ezio Auditore in Assassin's Creed, now voices Soul, replacing Jay Maksenuk, who was previously heard in trailers. The change appears to have happened after review copies went out, and S-Game has not explained the decision. The game has already hit over 730,000 concurrent players on Steam, making the last-minute recast even more notable. Players who jump in this weekend will hear Smith's familiar voice, not Maksenuk's, in the lead role.
