Mortal Shell 2 Surprise Beta Now Live on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S

Players on current-gen consoles can now jump into a surprise beta for the highly anticipated Mortal Shell 2, offering an early hands-on look at its 'deconstructed soulslike' mechanics. The unexpected test period arrives amid strong pre-release demand—so much so that the physical Revered Edition for PS5 recently sold out, underscoring the game's growing momentum. While the original report from Eurogamer does not specify the beta's duration, content scope, or whether it includes cross-gen support, the opportunity is clearly positioned as a direct invite for fans to sample the combat and world design ahead of launch. The beta's sudden availability suggests the developer is confident in the build, using this window to gather real-world feedback from a dedicated player base. Notably, the surprise factor itself is a story: it breaks from the typical marketing cycle of extended, heavily advertised test phases. Instead, this drop offers a more organic, community-driven approach, potentially generating buzz and excitement through word-of-mouth. For fans eager to experience the game early, this beta is a golden opportunity to dive into the dark, challenging world of Mortal Shell 2 and provide valuable input that could shape the final release.
