GTA 6 PS5 Download Size Revealed: 210GB, a New Record for Rockstar

Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to be a massive 210GB download on PlayStation 5, according to newly surfaced information. That figure would make it one of the largest game installs ever for a console title, dwarfing even the already hefty 105GB of its predecessor, GTA 5. Rockstar Games has not officially commented, but the size aligns with expectations for a game promising an unprecedented open world, dense urban environments, and high-fidelity assets. The 210GB requirement will strain default PS5 storage, which offers only 667GB of usable space on the internal SSD. Players may need to delete multiple existing titles or invest in expanded storage, as the game will consume roughly a third of the console's capacity. For context, other recent blockbusters like Call of Duty and Final Fantasy XVI have ranged from 100GB to 150GB, making GTA 6 a new benchmark. For gamers with slower internet connections, the download could take days, and pre-load options will be critical. The size also hints at the scope of the game: multiple cities, dynamic events, and a vast countryside are expected, all rendered in 4K with ray tracing. Rockstar's focus on detail has historically justified large file sizes, but this is a significant leap. As the release window approaches, players should prepare their storage and bandwidth. The era of 200GB games is here, and GTA 6 is leading the charge.
