Bungie Won't Tease Destiny 3 at The Game Awards, Focuses on Unvaulting Legacy Content

Bungie has confirmed it will not reveal Destiny 3 or any major Destiny announcement at The Game Awards this year. Head of product Josh Deane wrote that the studio is early in incubating its future and working on bridge projects, so fans should not expect a teaser or logo drop. Instead, the focus is on reviving legacy content from the Destiny vault, with an initial greenlight in June and help from an unnamed studio. A new progress bar will track milestones, with pre-production expected to last until January or February, followed by about 12 months of full production to port the content. Deane also teased upcoming 'anchor' events, including a new celebration similar to Moments of Triumph and 'Destiny Legacy,' which may bring Destiny 1 content into Destiny 2. More details will be revealed next year, with a progress bar update in February. Additionally, Bungie mentioned a mystery third project and continues to evolve its extraction shooter Marathon, which launched earlier this year. The studio says it is on track with unvaulting plans and building a new future for Destiny. With a long road ahead, players can expect a steady stream of nostalgic content rather than a sequel announcement.
