Sosie Bacon Joins Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in MGM+ Series ‘The Black Tapes’

Sosie Bacon has been cast in a lead role for MGM+’s upcoming horror series “The Black Tapes,” joining previously announced star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Based on the popular podcast of the same name, the eight-episode series is set to begin production soon. Bacon, known for her work in “Smile” and “13 Reasons Why,” will star alongside Coster-Waldau, who gained fame as Jaime Lannister in “Game of Thrones.” The podcast, created by Paul Bae and Terry Miles, blends fictional investigative journalism with supernatural mysteries, following a journalist’s quest to uncover the truth behind a series of unsolved cases. MGM+ is betting on the built-in fanbase of the podcast to draw viewers to the streaming platform, as adaptations of audio dramas continue to gain traction. The series is expected to premiere in 2025. With a strong cast and a proven IP, “The Black Tapes” could be a breakout hit for MGM+ in the competitive horror streaming space.
