Sharjah Film Festival Expands Pitching Platform, Boosting Emerging Arab Filmmakers

The Sharjah Intl. Film Festival for Children and Youth (SIFF) is doubling down on its commitment to emerging talent by expanding its pitching platform for a second year. Six projects have been selected for the 13th edition, up from three in the program’s inaugural run. The initiative is designed to create a clear pathway for new Arab filmmakers, offering them a crucial opportunity to present their work to industry professionals. By increasing the number of selected projects, SIFF is addressing a gap in the regional film ecosystem, where access to funding and mentorship can be limited. The festival, held in the UAE, has long been a hub for youth-oriented cinema, and this expansion signals a strategic shift toward nurturing the next generation of storytellers. For participants, the platform provides not just visibility but also the chance to secure partnerships that could turn a pitch into a produced film. With a growing roster of projects, SIFF is positioning itself as a key launchpad for Arab cinema, and the industry will be watching to see which of these six projects make the leap from concept to screen.
