Malaysian Sci-Fi Fantasy Film Mimpi Kita Secures Global Sales Partnership

Malaysian speculative fiction makes a significant leap onto the international stage as the science-fiction fantasy project 'Mimpi Kita: Castle in the Air' announces a major distribution and sales deal. Local production company Abnormal Studios has acquired the theatrical rights for Malaysia and Brunei while also stepping into the role of primary international sales agent for the film. This strategic partnership follows the project's successful exhibition at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, where it garnered attention during the NAFF Project Market's It Project segment. By transitioning from a well-received festival debut to a formal global distribution framework, 'Mimpi Kita' highlights the increasing potential and growing momentum of Southeast Asian genre cinema. This deal not only secures a domestic theatrical release but also positions the film for broader exposure to international audiences and buyers, marking a positive milestone for the Malaysian film industry as it continues to expand its reach and influence within the competitive landscape of global sci-fi and fantasy storytelling.
