CEPI Welcomes Canadian Media Producers Association and AQPM as First International Observer Members

The European Audiovisual Production Association (CEPI) has admitted the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) and the Association Québécoise de la Production Médiatique (AQPM) as its first international observer members. This move deepens ties between Canada and Europe’s independent production sectors, reflecting a broader political alignment between the two regions. CEPI represents 3,000 independent production companies across Europe, and the inclusion of these Canadian bodies signals a strategic expansion beyond the EU. For Canadian producers, observer status offers a direct line to European co-production opportunities, policy discussions, and market intelligence. For CEPI, it brings North American perspective into debates on streaming regulation, intellectual property, and cultural diversity. The partnership could lead to more cross-border collaborations and a stronger collective voice in global audiovisual policy. As both regions face similar pressures from global streaming platforms, this alliance may set a precedent for other international production associations to join forces.
