Bill Nighy Joins Caitríona Balfe in Alfonso Cuarón’s Horror Series ‘Ascension’ at Apple TV

Academy Award-nominated actor Bill Nighy has joined the cast of Alfonso Cuarón’s upcoming horror thriller series “Ascension” at Apple TV, starring opposite Caitríona Balfe. The series, which received a straight-to-series order in August, is inspired by Adam Nevill’s acclaimed novel “Last Days,” a chilling tale about a documentary filmmaker investigating a notorious cult. Cuarón, known for “Gravity” and “Roma,” is attached to direct and executive produce, bringing his signature visual style to the small screen. The addition of Nighy, celebrated for roles in “Living” and “Love Actually,” adds further prestige to the project, which is expected to blend psychological terror with deep character study. Apple TV+ continues to build a slate of high-profile genre content, and “Ascension” is poised to attract both horror aficionados and fans of literary adaptations. With production details still under wraps, the pairing of Nighy and Balfe under Cuarón’s direction signals a major event in streaming horror.
