AniBiz Raises $6 Million from TBS Group, Toei Animation, and TV Tokyo Holdings to Streamline Anime Licensing

Nakama, the start-up behind anime licensing platform AniBiz.com, has secured an initial $6 million investment from three of Japan's top anime licensors: TBS Group, Toei Animation, and TV Tokyo Holdings. The funding marks a significant endorsement from major players in the anime industry, signaling confidence in AniBiz's mission to simplify the complex licensing process for global content buyers. AniBiz, launched in July by Crunchyroll founder Kun Gao and former Crunchyroll executives Brady McCollum and Sae Whan Song, aims to create a centralized marketplace where anime titles can be discovered and licensed efficiently. The platform addresses a longstanding pain point in the industry, where licensing deals often involve tedious negotiations and fragmented information. With this new capital, AniBiz plans to expand its catalog and enhance its technology to better serve both licensors and licensees. The involvement of TBS, Toei, and TV Tokyo could also give AniBiz preferential access to some of the most sought-after anime properties, potentially making it an indispensable tool for streaming services, broadcasters, and distributors worldwide. As the global demand for anime continues to surge, AniBiz is poised to become a pivotal hub in the anime ecosystem.
