Altadena: One Fire After Another Documentary Tackles Eaton Fire Rebuilding Challenges

Climate journalist Bill McKibben and former '60 Minutes' producer David Gelber are behind a new documentary, 'Altadena: One Fire After Another,' which examines the aftermath of the 2025 Eaton Fire in Los Angeles. The film follows Altadena residents as they navigate the difficult process of rebuilding homes and preserving their community after the devastating blaze. The Eaton Fire destroyed over 9,000 structures and killed 17 people, making it one of the most destructive wildfires in California history. The documentary explores the personal stories of survivors, the bureaucratic hurdles they face, and the broader implications for communities in fire-prone areas. It highlights the resilience of Altadena, a historically Black neighborhood, and the fight against gentrification and displacement. The film is a call to action for better fire prevention and climate adaptation policies. As climate change intensifies wildfire risks, the lessons from Altadena could shape how other communities prepare for and recover from disasters.
