How ZAV Architects Integrated a Vibrant Modular Playground into an Iranian Olive Orchard

ZAV Architects has completed a pioneering design project in Iran that integrates a playful, modular yellow structure within an existing, functional olive orchard. This intervention challenges traditional approaches to landscape architecture by placing a vibrant, human-centric recreation space directly into an agricultural setting. The project uses a lightweight, modular steel system that snakes through the trees, providing climbing and exploration opportunities while leaving the delicate root systems and irrigation paths undisturbed. By choosing a bright yellow color palette, the architects created a stark, celebratory contrast against the silver-green leaves of the olive trees. This project serves as a profound example of sustainable design, proving that infrastructure can coexist with, rather than replace, productive rural environments. Through this work, ZAV emphasizes the importance of providing quality public spaces in rural areas, ultimately fostering social connection and community well-being while maintaining deep respect for ecological and agricultural integrity.
