Modular Timber Framing and Textile Canopies Shape Open-Air Civic Pavilion in Turkey

A new open-air civic pavilion in Turkey combines modular timber framing with removable textile canopies to create a flexible public space. The lightweight structure offers shade, communal seating, and working surfaces, drawing inspiration from the sheltered passages of traditional Turkish bazaars. The design emphasizes adaptability, allowing the fabric elements to be adjusted or removed as needed. This project highlights the potential of low-impact materials and modular construction for contemporary civic architecture. By blending local cultural references with modern engineering, the pavilion serves as a model for sustainable, community-focused design in public spaces.
