Berlin Penthouse Transformed by Multifunctional "Blue Box" by Bruzkus Greenberg

Local practice Bruzkus Greenberg has masterfully redesigned a 75-square-metre penthouse apartment in Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg, centering the renovation around a striking, multifunctional "blue box." This innovative, blue-stained wooden core strategically integrates key functions, including the apartment's entrance and a built-in banquette, addressing the limitations of the original cellular layout. The design aims to enhance practicality, improve flow, and create a more cohesive living experience for the owners. By consolidating essential elements within this central volume, the architects have liberated surrounding spaces, allowing for greater flexibility and a sense of spaciousness. The project serves as a compelling example of how thoughtful architectural intervention can unlock the full potential of compact urban dwellings, offering valuable lessons for future residential design by prioritizing both form and function to create inspiring and livable spaces.
