Putin Praises Elon Musk as a 'Real Genius' After Satellite Talks with SpaceX Boss

Russian President Vladimir Putin has publicly praised Elon Musk, calling the SpaceX and Tesla CEO a 'real genius' and confirming they are in 'close' contact. The remarks came after discussions between the two about satellite technology, highlighting the ongoing intersection of private space enterprise and geopolitical interests. Putin's comments signal a notable acknowledgment of Musk's influence in the aerospace sector, even as Western governments scrutinize the billionaire's ties with foreign leaders. The talks reportedly focused on satellite communications, an area where SpaceX's Starlink network has become a global leader, raising questions about potential collaboration or regulatory implications. While the exact nature of the discussions remains unclear, the Kremlin's warm tone toward Musk contrasts sharply with its strained relations with other Western tech figures. Analysts suggest that such engagement could shape future space policy and commercial partnerships, especially as Russia seeks to modernize its own satellite capabilities. As Musk continues to expand Starlink's reach, his interactions with world leaders like Putin may draw increased attention from U.S. officials and international observers. The meeting underscores how private tech leaders are increasingly operating on the geopolitical stage, with far-reaching consequences for global communications and security.
