Windows 11 Insider Preview Adds Built-In Internet Speed Test for Ethernet and Wi-Fi

Microsoft is testing a new built-in internet speed test tool in Windows 11, currently available to Windows Insiders. The feature lets users measure upload and download speeds directly from Settings, over either Ethernet or Wi-Fi connections. This eliminates the need for third-party websites or apps, offering a native way to diagnose network performance. The tool appears in the Network & Internet section, providing real-time results without extra software. It’s part of Microsoft’s ongoing effort to integrate essential utilities into Windows, improving user convenience and system troubleshooting. While still in preview, the feature is expected to roll out to all users in a future update. For now, Insiders can try it by navigating to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings and looking for the speed test option. This move could make Windows more competitive with other operating systems that already include similar diagnostics.
